Family members at the scene identified the victim as Joe McKnight, former NFL player and local high school football standout.

The shooting, reported about 3 p.m., occurred at the intersection of Berman Highway and Holmes Boulevard.

A witness, who declined to give her name, said she was leaving a store in the area when she saw a man at the intersection yelling at another man, who was trying to apologize. The man who was yelling shot the other man more than once, she said.

She said the shooter shot the man, stood over him and said "I told you don't you f--- with me." Then he fired again, she said.

Damn this hit home. Was the biggest high school recruit in the nation about 10 years ago from New Orleans was supposed to be the next reggie bush. Played NFL for the jets.

I remember his recruitment too. But let's not turn this into something it is not. The Gasser guy accidently cuts him off, McKnight throws a fit, chases him down, tries to go after him in the car, and got himself shot and killed. It's unfortunate but it is what it is. Don't go around messing with people.

RON GLASSER ARRESTED:

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.usatoday.com/story/95033986/

Who is Ronald Gasser?

Mr. Gasser is the owner of a telecommunications firm and a real estate business, according to The New Orleans Advocate.

In February 2006, he was charged with simple battery after a confrontation with another driver that began at the same intersection in Louisiana where Mr. McKnight was shot. A 51-year-old man had called 911 to report that a man behind the wheel of a red pickup was driving unsafely. The man turned out to be Mr. Gasser, and a “verbal altercation” ensued.

Mr. Gasser followed the man to a service station, where Mr. Gasser “confronted him and began to strike him with a closed fist several times,” the police said. The charge was later dismissed.

Another innocent killed by a mentally ill american with a gun he bought at Wal-Mart.

I was in the area went it happened. You don't feel safe in the USA.

Glad to be a Canadian, where the average gun cost 50 000$, only accessible on the black market, and where carrying a gun without license get you 6 months of jail on the spot.

Hopefully he will get a life sentence unless he bought the sheriff

You could argue that Joe McKnight was mentally ill too. Why in the world would you chase down and threaten a guy who cut you off? Most normal people would let that go with a middle finger in the air or a honked horn.

You obviously have no idea what the fvck you're talking about.

You can buy a gun Canada, legally, for a lot less than $50K. You just need to pass a basic firearms safety exam and pay a $80 fee.

Our gun laws are pretty tight. We can't buy hand guns easily at all. Also need permits and FAC course. Rifles and hunting yes. Semi autos or hand guns no.
