"The right" makes the claim that the media leans left. That is nonsense. The media is corporate.
Correct, but it was the "conservative" justices of the Supreme Court that ruled money is speech, further opening up the floodgates to corrupt campaign financing. It was already there, but it is only going to get worse.
The Federal government isn't the problem; the two-party system with corrupt campaign financing is. Though not perfect, other countries have figured this out. Limited Federal government doesn't work and never did work. The Federal government is the only entity strong enough to contain capitalism.
Gar, another one here on sosuave... maybe the same one as last time. Will try to keep this out of the political and stick mostly to semantics.
1. FYI, PETA is "corporate," the Teamsters are "corporate," SEIU is "corporate," Black Panthers, Black Lives Matter, ThinkProgress, ALL "corporate." It is a sign of commercial and legal ignorance to equate "corporate" with the RW or "capitalism" or Wall Street. It's kind of understandable, as MSM/Hollywood and govedu subjects us to a constant barrage of anticommercial messages and has for decades. Schools teach us that Lincoln was a savior and Carnegie was a robber, that JP Morgan was the epitome of greedy Wall Street despite that Morgan did FAR more for the country than any single President or politician. Saying "they are corporate owned" as evidence of anything? Vapid.
There are 30 million business concerns in the US, most of them "corporate" in some way or another. Everything from the "corporation" that creates "The View" and "The Rachel Maddow Show" to Rush Limbaugh's EIB network. Everything from your plumber to your nail salon to your doctor to your mattress salesman. All corporate, so if you learn nothing else from this post, learn that among knowledgeable people, "corporate" is just a word representing a certain set of legal concepts ingrained in our law for centuries. It is an epithet or a boogey man rallying cry only among the ignorant.
2. While it is true that the left has morphed from radical libertarian to a very bland oatmeal bureau statist gov edu union contractor grantee MSM Complex over the last 40 years, it uses the exact same propaganda tools to accomplish its goals. It is absurd to call people who think gays are some oppressed class in the US, that feminism is based on facts, that illegal immigration is desirable policy, that there is real oppression or hunger in the US, etc., "centrist." It's comical to do that actually. We are aware that the teeny tiny eensy weensy OECD all white, oil rich socialist darlings like Norway are more socialist than the US, but that doesn't make what goes on here "centrist" by a long shot.
3. You can call it left, right, whatever semantics you like. The fact is that in the US, there is a beset upon, hyperregulated private sector that is asked to pay pay and pay some more for a gigantic parasitic Complex comprised of the aforesaid groups and outright government dependents, breeding more and more every day and encouraged to do so at your local DFACS office. That Complex represents machine politics that doesn't give two Fs for what is right or what is smart, what is best for the future, but only for what can be grabbed hand over fist the fastest. The government mob in the US makes Tammany Hall look tame and Paulie Walnuts look civilized.
Oh, and PS, you should look into the actual facts behind the Citizens United case. It was a backlash to biased courts allowing Michael Moore's plainly political advertising oriented films near elections but not RW films. If Citizens United had been given the same "free speech/entertainment" protection as the Left, the case would have never been petitioned to SCOTUS. I know you don't know any of this because no leftist ever bothers to look at the facts behind their constantly repeated advertisements, such as "CU made politics all about money." That's a line your union hall is feeding you and you bought it without question. Dig a little deeper next time.
