with all this talk of bpd's etc I found myself asking this question. I know many a player whom might pass as sociopaths. These men are adept in business and are very successful on the surface. Nice clothes, car, house etc but inside they are empty. Heartless and soulless. I know certain members here come across that way (mentioning no names *cough Danger * cough Guru* cough). All logic and no heart. What do you think?

Not necessarily promotes so much as it draws out those tendencies.

All the traits BPD chicks have are basically the same things DJs are encouraged to do -- spin plates (orbiters), fluctuate emotions, manipulate, regard partner as expendable...

I think the game promotes sociopathic tendencies. Not because it attracts women, but because it makes it easier to do what needs to be done (to be a player).

Once a guy is freed from the burden of morality and caring about the other person, he can use, manipulate, and lie to them as needed without any bothersome pangs of conscience.

It depends on how much of one they are. High-functioning vs low-functioning for example. Low-functiong sociopaths are good with one on one encounters. They tend to be more manipulative. However, they lie a lot about themselves in order to help their chances with the other person. That is why they are not so great with a group of people. High-functioning sociopaths are more charismatic. They are better at moving the masses, but will not let you get close to them.

The thing is, every person has the ability to become one. It usually happens when one experiences severe emotional trauma or repeated emotional trauma. Loss of empathy is one key factor. However, many sociopaths (more so the ones who become that way later on in life due to emotional trauma) are simply able to turn empathy on and off like a switch. Whichever is more beneficial to them.

This is true. The pathology of men is sociopathy, while the pathology of women is borderline personality disorder. The two are essentially very similar, yet also different at the same time.

A BPD is the equivalent of a male sociopath.
