I was on the sit down leg press and I was doing fine (and going down slightly below parallel) when at the last rep (I did 2 sets of 12 270 and then 285) when at the last rep I out of no where got a splitting/throbbing headache in the back of my skull.

It knocked me silly for a moment there and I could feel it throbbing.. fortunately it subsided to a degree so I could finish my workout but it hasnt' fully gone away even now.

The trainers there said it was a pulled muscle in my neck which I think is bs. A good friend of mine thinks perhaps I pinched a nerve in my lower back during the exercise. I'm guessing that could be a possibility (in which case I need to examine my form big time on that exercise apparently).

Have you ever had that happen before? Any clue what the hell that was and how to never have it happen again? lol

Could be high blood pressure, forgot to breathe maybe?

Bruised blood vessel could be it as well.

Either way, lower the weight for a week or two and it'll go away.

I had that once, while doing 20 rep squats. Vision went white, splitting headache, tingly arms. I might have pinched a nerve in my neck at the time.

Make sure your posture is good and you're relaxed when doing the movement. Emphasize breathing and really focus on the "in...out" of it. It usually clears within a week or week and a half.

cheers mate

Handyandy:
I hit the water fountain in between every exercise just about so I don't think dehydrated is it, and as for my breathing.. I can't honestly recall my breathing during the leg press.. but I'm pretty good about those things. I think my breathing was good.

Quicksilver:
Wow.. everything went white? Now that must have been scary for ya. Sounds similar to what happened to me so thats likely it.

As for posture, I was trying to arch my back so it wasn't rounded at the bottom.. I'll double check my posture and work on the breathing, thanks.

Yeah it was scary.

Rather than guessing what good posture would be, the best way to have it is to squeeze your glutes and tighten your abs. It's impossible to round your back or arch it too much, when squeezing the glutes. Your abs will balance out that force. Focus on tightening glutes, tightening abs, and keeping your airways open. that should fix any issues.

good luck bro

"I was going slightly below parallel and this was a bit tough. Weight thing that never happened to me before is the last rep out of no where I got a bad headache and a throbbing/pounding in the back of my skull.. wth is that about? (I'll post a thread about this)"

Check your breathing when doing it (breathe out when pushing). When I've done 15 reps at high weights I would go almost deaf for a couple minutes.

Thanks! I'll do that. :)

handyandy:
I took some tylenol when I woke up at 4am last night and when I woke up at 10am the headache was gone so that seemed to do the trick. I'm ok now.

Itallion stallion:
I'm usually pretty good with my breathing.. but I don't remember if I did that time. In any case I'll make sure to watch my breathing. Thanks man.

That happened to me one time when I was doing dumbbell squats. Really f*cking bad headache I think in the front of my head, or maybe it was all over. it would come after the third or so rep in each set and stay for a couple minutes.

Well it was gone until during breakfast this morn I sneezed and the throbbing headache came right back. Must have an irritated/sensitive nerve along my spine somewhere. Hopefully it'll calm down in a week or so as quick said.

this happened to me when i was doing an upper chest workout. My head got this throbbing pain in the back of the skull. It took me 2-3 weeks to recover, i believe it was a blood vessel or a pinched nerve. I went to a doctor and he checked for signs of a TIA and stroke.

Take 2 weeks off of lifting.

what sucked is i couldn't get head because every time i would get that throbbing pain in my head (the one on my shoulders).

do you have the same pain when your having sex, bj, jack off?
