Master Don Juan
From the latest and presumably last Rocky movie (Rocky Balboa), Rocky's immortal words about winning and succeeding in this cruel world are still ringing loud and clear:
"But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."
While this is true and sums it up in a nutshell, let me explain in more detail about the winning mindset and achieving great success at anything you set your mind too. Winning first begins with the right frame of mind.
The winning frame of mind
Look into any game or hard-fought contest, the victors always kept their moral high. Call it a positive attitude, or call it a determined, confident yet poised and reassuring mindset. The winning mindset!
So then, you might be asking yourself, how do you keep a winning mindset, or better yet, how do you even start with one?
A winning frame of mind starts with a vision!
That's right, by knowing your outcome, you now have purpose. Your vision should be of you achieving your goal, no matter what that goal is. For example, if your goal is to date that special hottie, you need to picture yourself with her. Better yet, envision her chasing you!. The more you can picture yourself having already realistically achieved the goal in your mind, the more real it becomes and something magical happens. Your collective unconscious mind starts taking action to achieve this goal!
It's no secret that many successful people use this technique, and some even use hypnosis. They know the importance of a vision which sets things in motion. We are only human though, and all of us have doubts. Doubts hamper our vision and cause us to lose focus on achieving our goal.
Removing doubt is not to worry about what went wrong, but instead knowing what will go right
If you focus on or picture what can go wrong, it most undoubtedly will. Think of a Quarterback in a Football game. The QB has a bad history of fumbling, and continues to worry about fumbliing the ball. So what does he do? He fumbles even more! "Why is this happening?" he constantly asks himself while other players are yelling at him. It is because he is focused on when he is going to fumble next, and not making adjustments to fix his problem!
If something isn't working, then try something else. Many people repeat the same mistakes over and over again, without making adjustments to achieve their goal.
Maintaining a positive mindset is about making adjustments to continue on a course of action that achieves your goal
So at half-time, the coach offers the QB some advice to not hold his arm out with the ball when running backwards. The QB finally takes the coach's advice and low-and-behold, he doesn't fumble for the rest of the season! The QB makes a conscious effort to protect the ball at all times. He has changed his focus from worrying about fumbling the ball, to not fumbling the ball. The big difference that resulted in success.
Anytime someone doesn't believe in you, then they don't respect you. You should not make time for people that undoubtly want to see you fail. Only you can achieve your goal, so believing in yourself is essential, even when things aren't going the way you would like them to.
To be a winner requires rising above average expectations and doing things that most common people haven't tried
Most people are average. They live average lives. They have average jobs, and have average day-to-day activities. They have average mind-sets. They have average expectations. In order to get out of this mundane way of thinking, requires a greater challenge and believing you can meet and exceed that challenge. Something most people don't think many people can do. Why do they think this way? Yep, they are average.
To achieve greater success first requires building on smaller successes
What do you mean tmpgstx (asking with a quizzical look)? Going back to my Football example, the QB by not fumbling the ball anymore is now completing more passes. One success (not fumbling) paved the way for another success (more completed passes). His winning mindset and newly confident attitude carried over into his passing game. In real life with Football QBs, we have seen this time and time again. The sum is the whole of its parts, so many small successes comprise one big successful image.
Follow these guidelines to a winning mindset and you will soon start achieving your goals and succeeding at whatever you set your mind too, most likely beyond your initial expectations.
Adopt the winning mindset and you will have that 'Unspoken winner's attitude'.
