What are some good books you've read that have to do with just improving the quality of your life overall? I wanna leave this question pretty open ended just to see what recommendations you guys got.

The books that helped me the most were actually novels. You can learn a lot about humanity in those.

I just read the Accidental Millionaire, which is nonfiction, and that was pretty good. I read it in two hours, so it read easy, too.

the laws of success by napoleon hill is the most influental book I have ever read in my life and ever will read in my life. I read it once a year. Book literarly changed my life.

It helped me figure out for the first time, realizing what my purpose in life is and showed me the most efficent way to go about achieving that purpose.

Can't say enough about the book, yet most people are too lazy to read it as it's about 1200 pages.

I had an extremely nasty drug habit some years ago and that book above did more for my drug habit than any 12 step meeting or AA book could have done. It's like I just woke up out of a funk.

in a non direct way, The god delusion helped me to feel comfortable with my lack of regious beliefs.

The Count of Monte Cristo. It shows what true ambition is, how to tough through the tough, persistence, pain, happiness, as well as a great story to go along with it. My favorite book of all time and i read it once every couple of years.

I'm still waiting to find another novel that can compare with that book.

funny you said that. I have that book, and the movie for that matter.. never watched or read either one. watching V for Vendetta peaked my interest in that movie and book.. never got around to it. I might pop some popcorn and watch it tonight.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is the Grandfather of every self-improvement book out there. While the planet is filled with brilliant works of fact and fiction, you must read that book before all others.

The Prophet by Khalil Gibran is another favorite of mine. In it, a prophet describes every facet of the human experience in a way that speaks to the Great Unknown within your soul. This is a non-religious book that gives its readers a religious experience, I feel tiny in the shadow of its genius.

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen is another necessity. This book really brings home the message Christ and every other religious, spiritual, and philosophical leader have tried to send us time and time again, "As you believe, so shall it be done unto you."

There are many others. In college I loved Catch-22 and it was my favorite book for awhile. As a veteran, I have seen no other book capture the thoughts of the American fighting man the way that book did.

Also, books on history contain all the knowledge we need. We are not doing anything the Romans were not doing 2,000 years ago. I love to read about Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great, their lives are all the "blueprints" I need.

Mutual Funds for Dummies worked fer me:cool:

Think and Grow Rich was actually founded on the laws of success which he wrote 10 years earlier.

ditto on as a man thinkith. I read that quite often as well, even have some of it memorized.

48 laws of power, 33 strategies of war, and the 50th law.

all books by robert greene (the last one with Greene and 50 cent). I do not really read nonfiction but these 3 books are all masterpieces and if you want to get started reading a lot I recommended starting with them.
